Lose Freedom with Universal Medical Insurance

If you think it sounds Christian and giving and helpful to all families who struggle--or not, to institute a federally-funded universal insurance program for medical services, you had better think twice. The consequence of dependence upon government is a loss of freedom. We may be required to weigh within a certain range at various intervals in our lives. We may be prohibited from eating McDonald's at certain levels or at all. We may be required to ride a bike so many miles or swim 3x a week....and so on. Breweries and tobacco growers may be put out of business. Many other businesses may be eliminated if their product is deemed too unhealthy or unsafe. Many people may be out of work. Oh, that's great. Viva la gouvernemente!

Since you're so against being dependent on the government, make sure you decline your social security and medicare coverage when the time comes.

When it comes to health care and the poor-- if they can't afford health insurance or their employers can't afford to provide it, well that's just too bad, isn't it?

Of course, I'd like to opt out of SS, but I think it's been tried and failed. Since I have paid in, I am entitled to get "my share" back.

There are plenty of government and non-profit private clinics and such. Hospitals every day eat the costs of serving the poor, including illegal immigrants.

Actually, however, this example in my post is akin to Catholic entities accepting government money and losing religious freedom, ie, gay adoption pressures in CA and Boston; contraception coverage in Calif.
