No Diocese Left Behind!

Great news from the Belleville diocese, very exciting on the heels of Apb. Burke's recent announcement:

Good news!
Announced by the Belleville Diocese's Office of Worship:
"The Belleville Diocesan Schola" is being formed ...
to provide sacred music for ceremonies at the Cathedral
and at other places throughout the diocese.
Richard Thompson will be the conductor and music director of the schola.
First up:
The Priesthood Ordination on May 10 at the Cathedral.
Rehearsals:
4 rehearsals are scheduled between now and then
at St. Teresa Church in Belleville --
4 Thursday evenings: April 17, 24, May 1, 8.
Because of the difficulty of the pieces being chosen,
(e.g. Ave Verum by Edward Elgar and Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence by Gustav Holst)
members of the schola ought to be able to read music.
For more information,
contact Sue Huett at the Diocesan Office of Worship:
SHuett@diobelle.org
or 618-235-9601 ext. 144
**
If my memory is correct, Richard Thompson in the past decade or so has been the choir director at St. Teresa's in Belleville and of the Belleville Philharmonic, both of which my dad has been a part--at different times. This man and the music he directs are well-regarded.
This is a real treat for the diocese. Hats off to Bishop Braxton and other folks in the diocese for bringing this about.

Fantastic!! This is so cool. With Rosalind Moss' sisters getting established in St. Louis and this kind of musical renewal going on on both sides of the river, this little corner of the world is gonna be cookin' with Crisco :-D

Praise God.

Does anyone know of any good traditional choirs that use women's voices in Chicago?
